Ray graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Toronto in 1961.  He was called to Ontario Bar in 1963.  Since that time he has practised extensively in the area of civil litigation.  He is an accomplished and experienced advocate whose diverse practice encompasses all aspects of litigation.  He has appeared as counsel at every level of judicial and administrative tribunals throughout Ontario, acting for plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of matters including matrimonial proceedings, construction disputes, shareholder oppression remedies, employment matters, and real estate litigation.

His sensitivity to the high costs of litigating and the impact these costs have on the ordinary litigant have made him a firm disciple of both the need to marshal client resources for use where their application may be most effective and to resolve the matter at the earliest time consistent with the client’s needs and best interests.
